About Wild Brumby Art Gallery, Albert Square

First things the beginning - a selection of paintings by founding artist Andy J Crowder

First things first - the beginning

Wild Brumby Art Gallery emerged from the gutters of St Kilda around 2010-2011, taking residence in a sprawling, cracked house near the Caulfield race track, which became a unique art space Caulfield was known for. Created by Andy J Crowder and ‘Dirty Kurty’ LINTNER, two outsider artists who shared a passion for creation, they worked tirelessly on their art day and night. Life in the world of art was vibrant, with each day dedicated to making art that would soon be gone.

After the Caulfield location faced demolition and Johny Dancer cut down Dirty Kurty, Andy's art hit the road, eventually landing in Melton.

Until now, we've made art whenever, however, and wherever we could. But now, the outsiders have arrived at a shiny new posh location, and ooooh, we do say!

Introducing Pocket Full of Rye Laura

Paint on my fingers, it flows through my veins, I paint so to stop from going insane. A creature emerges, sinful or true? A woman appears, but is still and quite blue. There's something not right with the child underneath. There's a deer with sharp blood-soaked jagged teeth. A beautiful lily, it sprouts from her skin as I silence the screaming and laughter within. I also paint pets, or a rose for your mum to quiet the chatter; I paint for the fun.

Pocket Full of Rye Laura will be exhibiting works in our opening exhibition at our art gallery in Melbourne. We are excited to show you more about this unique art space in Caulfield, where outsider artists can share their creations.

Boris Falovic (the painter Boro Couw) applies a process known as ‘prainting’ to create textural, multi dimensional works of art.

”I play when I paint and I paint when I play ...”

Boris is currently prainting, performing with Melbourne bands; Little Gem and Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and working on an Ian Rilen retrospective (Little George Lane, Friday 23 January) with Cathy Green and Henry Hugo.

Introducing musicians The Fog
