Kazi Crowther, named Mzilikazi Crowther. A zulu name, believing it to mean "On the road to tomorrow". In translation it means pathway of blood.
Born in Eltham, Victoria, he travelled to Zimbabwe with his parents, both artists, and spent 5 years there before residing in New Zealand and back to Australia.
His artwork has been influenced heavily by the experiences that he lived in these cultures.
He studied metal work and learnt green stone carving in New Zealand.
In carving he found empathy with wood, delighting in the natural grains and the forms which emerged organically. Multi-talented he also paints, draws and creates.
He has exhibited and completed various private commissions.
Kazi has a wicked sense of humour and has an abiding interest in sociology, the sciences and psychology.
